OUR STORY
A journey from the system…back to the soul.
Within Center was born out of personal experience, not a business plan. I’ve been on this path of healing since I was a kid. I went to therapy at 12, and by 17, I was in rehab. I got sober then and stayed sober, but I quickly realized that sobriety and healing aren’t the same thing. So I spent the next 20 years searching. Searching for wholeness, truth, peace, and ultimately, back to my Self.
Along the way, I built a career helping others do the same. I opened rehab centers, detox programs, inpatient and outpatient facilities across Texas and Hawaii, twelve properties in total. But the deeper I went, the more disillusioned I became. The traditional recovery model felt broken. So many people, 90 to 95% — were relapsing. Doctors were over-prescribing. Clients were being labeled, searched when they entered treatment, shamed. Centers were prioritizing profits and insurance claims over actual healing.
It became a revolving door and I couldn’t do it anymore.
So I walked away.
I sold everything and went to Peru, where I sat with grandmother medicine in the jungle with the Shipibo tribe. I entered a darkness retreat. I surrendered. I listened. And for the first time, I truly came home to myself. My nervous system regulated. My spirit softened. Something ancient and real awakened inside of me.
When I returned, everything had changed.
That’s when a small group of us from veterans, doctors, police officers, and friends — came together to found Within Center in Austin, Texas, during the stillness of 2020. What we created wasn’t a clinic. It wasn’t a company. It was a living, breathing sanctuary, a space to heal the nervous system, awaken consciousness, and remember who we truly are.
We began by offering ceremonial ketamine therapy and integration work, blending sacred ceremony with clinical care. There were no labels. No shame. No hierarchy. Just truth, courage, and community.
And then, the vision expanded.
In 2025, we moved to a 12-acre property just outside Austin, now known as AWKN Ranch. It’s a sacred space designed with intention: two ceremonial yurts, a yoga wellness center, cold plunges, saunas, a pickleball court, pools, fire pits, hammocks gardens, and a sacred temple space for deep healing work. It’s a place where people feel safe, held, and seen. A place where healing is real.
Within Center today is more than a center, it’s a healing sanctuary. We are co-creating a new global paradigm for mental health. One that honors ancient wisdom, sacred plant medicine, science, and the power of the human heart.
We’re here to help people come back to themselves, not through force, shame, or labels, but through remembrance. Through love. Through going within.
